Ecotapes Zeeland
Premium shellfish seed producer based in Kamperland, Zeeland. Supplying aquaculture markets across Europe and beyond with the finest bivalve seed from T1 to T10.
Our Products
Three bivalve species, fully controlled cycle from fertilisation to commercial size. Certified seed produced in a semi-closed recirculating hatchery with full batch traceability.

Ruditapes philippinarum
Manila Clam
Non-native species of major commercial relevance (FAO areas 27 and 37). Our seed is produced from broodstock conditioned at 18–22 °C and selected for growth rate, environmental tolerance and cohort uniformity. Pre-grow-out survival consistently above 90% and average growth of 0.3–0.5 mm/day during the nursery phase, optimised for lagoon and intertidal seeding. Sizes above T5 are pre-grown in our Sand Nursery (benthic sandy substrate): seed with thicker shells, fully sealed valves and vigour comparable to wild stock, clearly outperforming — in transport resilience and post-seeding performance — seed produced in suspended systems (FLUPSY, raceway).

Ruditapes decussatus
Grooved Carpet Shell
European native species with high market value (PDO status in several Mediterranean areas). Seed is produced from genetically diverse broodstock, with molecular verification to prevent hybridisation with R. philippinarum. Special attention is given to gametogenic conditioning and a multi-strain microalgal diet (Isochrysis, Tetraselmis, Chaetoceros) to deliver robust pre-larvae and uniform benthic settlement.

Ostrea edulis
European Flat Oyster
Native larviparous species included in European restocking programmes. Our production follows a low-impact hatchery protocol with spat capture at the pediveliger stage, sanitary screening for Bonamia ostreae and Marteilia refringens, and pre-grow-out in upwelling units. Calibrated seed suitable both for suspended culture (lanterns, pockets) and for the restoration of natural beds.
Hatchery Methodology
Scientific precision from conditioning to delivery.
Broodstock Conditioning
Strictly controlled thermal and nutritional regimes to ensure optimal gametogenesis and predictable spawning.
Larval Rearing
High-density multi-strain microalgal diets in semi-closed recirculating systems with rigorous daily sanitary screening.
Nursery & Pre-Grow
Graduated upwelling and our signature benthic Sand Nursery phase for unparalleled post-seeding resilience.
